2025 International Conference on Geophysics, Exploration and Development (ICGED 2025) Successfully Held

From August 22 to 24, the 2025 International Conference on Geophysics, Exploration and Development (ICGED 2025) was successfully held in Zhengzhou. The conference was hosted by the Henan Academy of Geology, organized by the Henan Key Laboratory of Groundwater Pollution Prevention and Rehabilitation, and supported by the School of Geological Engineering of Qinghai University and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia, with technical support provided by the Academic Exchange Information Centre (AEIC). Under the theme "Research and Technological Applications in Geophysics, Exploration, and Development," the conference brought together experts and scholars from universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally for in-depth discussions. The event was chaired by Guo Lin from the Henan Key Laboratory of Groundwater Pollution Prevention and Rehabilitation.

In his address, Prof. Chen Shuanghuapointed out that geophysical technology plays a critical role in the new round of mineral exploration breakthroughs. He emphasized that this conference has established a high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars from around the world, which will undoubtedly drive innovation and development in geophysical exploration technology. He stressed that the ICGED 2025 is committed to promoting international cooperation and exchange in the field of geophysics, and expressed hope that the event would deepen collaboration among research institutions to advance the application of geophysical exploration technology in areas such as mineral resource development and environmental geological surveys. He also stated that the Henan Academy of Geology will continue to leverage its professional expertise to provide robust technical support for mineral resource exploration, ecological environmental protection, and high-quality economic and social development.

The keynote speech session brought together renowned experts from China and abroad to discuss cutting-edge technologies in geophysical exploration. Three experts—Prof. Chen Shuanghua from the Henan Academy of Geology, Prof.r Amin Beiranvand Pour from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and Professor Zhao Guizhang from North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, China—delivered keynote speeches on the following themes: the role of geophysical technology in supporting breakthrough mineral exploration, the application of remote sensing imaging technology in critical mineral exploration, and key technologies for geophysical exploration of contaminated sites. Among them, Assoc. Prof. Zhao Guizhang emphasized the application of geophysical technology in precise investigation of contaminated sites, which aligns closely with the research focus of the organizing unit, the Henan Key Laboratory of Groundwater Pollution Prevention and Rehabilitation, in the field of groundwater pollution prevention and control. Prof. Amin shared his latest research findings in the field of remote sensing geology via an online presentation.

In the oral presentation session for young scholars, multiple emerging researchers from Qinghai University, China, Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and Chongqing University delivered excellent presentations on cutting-edge topics. These included resistivity analysis of mineral deposits, optical fiber signal denoising, underwater resistivity tomography, reservoir porosity prediction, CO2-brine-coal rock interactions, and seismic geostress modeling of ultra-deep tight sandstone formations.

The successful organization of the 2025 International Conference on Geophysics, Exploration and Development (ICGED 2025) has established an academic exchange platform for our institute's researchers and domestic and international experts, promoting the innovative development of geophysical exploration technologies. Through this conference, the academic influence of the Henan Academy of Geology in the field of geophysical exploration has been further enhanced, particularly in research capabilities related to the application of geophysical technologies for precise investigation and prevention of groundwater pollution. The successful execution of the conference has provided robust technical support for key provincial initiatives such as mineral resource exploration, ecological environmental protection, and geological disaster prevention in Henan Province, fully demonstrating the commitment of geological work in the new era to serving socioeconomic development.
